Meeru Island Resort Jacuzzi Water Villas reviews
We had a great stay, with an amazing room, great service and really good diving.
The Jacuzzi Water Villas are brand new and beautiful with all the facilities you need and many you don't as well as lovely bathrooms. Other villas can see onto the waterfront balcony, but with a separate, concealed outdoor deck at the back of the villa, you can always find privacy in the sunshine if you want it.
The beach rooms looked a bit older and didn't have the same level of privacy, so choose carefully.
The resort is a bit larger than we would usually choose and the welcome, reception and day-dining restaurants are a bit too geared towards the package holiday market, but you can simply ignore all of that once you have checked in. The sports complex, golf course, staff quarters, mosque and football pitch are all tucked into the centre of the island behind the trees, so they don't disturb the desert-island sensation.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner at the all-day restaurant were fine, but not very exciting and mostly European, with very little local flavour and a surprising lack of fresh fish (there was a fish course with every meal, but it was always baked). The Hot Rocks a la carte restaurant was very disappointing but Asian Wok is highly recommended with wonderful service, ambience and food.
We went diving every day and the dive centre and staff are lovely, but if you are planning your budget bear in mind that everything except air is additional. Your dive cost doesn't include the boat trip for instance and gear rental is per dive, not per day or even per boat trip.Room Tip: Jacuzzi Water Villas are great, some of the others looked a bit run down
