Hot tub Covers Greenville SC

Hot Tub Covers Buying GuideA hot tub can provide relaxation after a long day at work, and it serves as a comfortable place to entertain guests. Hot tubs are used in all climates, but the level of protection required varies by the temperature and amount of precipitation in the region. Regardless of its location, every hot tub should have a properly fitting cover.

About Hot Tub Covers

Hot tubs are available in many different shapes and sizes. While standard residential hot tubs are 5 to 8 feet long, many are custom-made to accommodate available space. Hot tub covers are usually included with the purchase of the unit, but many of these covers are lightweight and require replacement after a few years. Replacement covers are typically made to order and are available in a wide variety of colors, with options in thickness and density of the foam core. Hot tubs that are equipped with speakers require specially made covers to accommodate the added bulk of the unit.

A cover is more than a means to keep dirt and debris out of the hot tub. When the cover is used properly, it provides a level of protection against accidental injuries and drownings; however, locks can be purchased separately to further secure the hot tub. Another common accessory is the cover lift, which aids in the removal of the cover.

R-Value

R-value is the measurement of insulation. The higher the R-value, the more heat resistant the product. Typically, the R-value is a based on the foam insulation only or the foam insulation and the vinyl cover.

R-value is most important in cold climates. A high R-value will keep energy bills low while maintaining the heat to be maintained in the hot tub. Thicker cores are also able to withstand heavier loads of snow and rain.

Foam Density

The foam density of a hot tub cover is the measure of its ability to absorb moisture and withstand pressure. The measurement is taken from how many pounds of material is used in one cubic foot of the cover. Covers with higher densities are better suited to cold and rainy climates.

Weight (lbs.)

Description

1 lb.

One-pound covers are light and have the most air pockets. They are usually best for indoor use. One pound hot tub covers have a lifespan of about two years. These are the least expensive covers and are generally included with a hot tub purchase.

1.5 lb.

The 1.5-pound density cover absorbs less water than the one pound density cover. A hot tub cover of this density will provide protection in most climates.

2 lb.

Hot tub covers with a 2-pound density are the strongest available. Used mostly in northern states, covers with a 2-pound density core are able to withstand snow and ice. Because of their thickness, energy savings are the highest with a 2-pound density hot tub cover.
