Hot tub cover repair patch
Lids help keep your hot tub clean and warm.
Your hot tub's lid is an integral piece of equipment, protecting your hot tub from dirt and debris. It also helps conserve energy by insulating the water when the tub is not in use, allowing it to stay warmer with less energy output. Most hot tub covers have a foam core surrounded by a vinyl outer layer. You can patch a tear in your hot tub lid with a few basic supplies.
Turn the vinyl hot tub lid over so that the tear is facing the ground. Lift the cover to allow water that's accumulated inside to drain out the tear. A little water won't harm the core, but too much water can cause the core to degrade and lose its shape.
Turn the lid over so the tear is on top. Squirt some liquid vinyl cleaner on a rag and wipe the area around the tear thoroughly. Rinse the lid with water, then wipe it dry with a clean rag. Allow the vinyl to dry.
Lay the lid so the torn area is flat. Cut the vinyl repair patch to a size that's 1 inch larger than the tear on all sides. Peel off the paper backing and place the patch over the tear so that the tear is in the center. Start from a corner of the patch and roll it across the tear, pressing down firmly, for the best results.
Rub your hand over the patch several times to ensure a secure fit. Wait at least 24 hours to put the lid back over the hot tub.
